Car and motorcycle Tires have a 'language' itself to communicate with users. So as not to erroneously interpret, understand and sign codes are stamped on the tire.To show the specification data, brand, and type, tire uses a series of code numbers and letters. These codes are arranged in a formula that is universal and has been agreed by all tire manufacturers in the world. For example GT RADIAL 225/45 ZR17 94V CHAMPIRO HPY. What are the meaning of the codes, the following explanation:
GT RADIAL: The front generally mention the name of the tire manufacturer.
CHAMPIRO HPY: Represents the type of the tire. CHAMPIRO HPY high-performance tires produced by PT Gajah Tunggal.
225: Three points on front (225) shows the width of the tire (tire width) in millimeters (mm) measured from the outermost point (outer) sidewall (wall) to the inner sidewall.
45: Two figures are always placed after the number indicates the width of the tire sidewall
aspect ratio or also called tire profile. This code indicates a high percentage of the tire sidewall
the width of the tire. In principle, the higher the number the aspect ratio, the higher its sidewall. More details, see this example. If the size of the tire GT RADIAL CHAMPIRO HPY written 225/45 means the sidewall height of its 45% of 225 mm, equivalent to 101.25 mm. This result is obtained by multiplying 225 mm with 45%.
Z: Symbol speed rating indicates the tire can be driven up to speeds above 240 km / h.
R: Letter code after the tire width / aspect ratio shows the internal construction of the tire. Code "R" on the tire GT RADIAL CHAMPIRO HPY shows it is a radial tire construction.
17: This figure shows the diameter of the tire. Numeric code 17 means the tire diameter of 17 inches, 16 inches is equal to 16 and so on.
94: This is the code of the tire's load index or in supporting the load. The formula is, the higher the load index, the higher the load receiving capability. The magnitude of the load is known of the conversion table load index. Well, on this rate the tire 94 means the tire can withstand a maximum load of 670 kg.
Y: This is a symbol of speed rating indicates the maximum speed limit that can be handled by the tire. The letter "Y" means the tire can be driven up to a maximum of 300 km / h
